Sr Chemist – Personal Care and Hair Care

Novaris search is partnering with a fantastic personal care contract manufacturer who are renowned for their level of service and unique value proposition. They pride themselves on their creative, artisanal approach, offering clients a truly unique experience. They’re known for their commitment to quality, cutting-edge product development, and being a great place to work.

Founded over 50 years ago, they have developed a vast array of skincare, OTC, body care & deodorant formulations. They are growing significantly and because of this they have bought a new site (doubling their current footprint), are expanding their lab space and are investing in advanced equipment. With this growth, they are also looking to strengthen their capabilities within hair care and are seeking a strong Sr Chemist who can develop cutting edge formulations from concept to commercialization. This is a very visible role within their R&D team and offers the chance to be very creative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and formulate hair care products (alongside other personal care products)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate and deliver creative solutions for clients.
  • Lead formulation projects from concept to completion, ensuring products meet performance, safety, and stability requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory requirements to guide product development.
  • Troubleshoot formulation challenges and provide practical, effective solutions.
  • Research and select raw materials and innovative ingredients to develop high performance and innovative formulations

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on formulation experience in hair care product development.
  • Knowledge of scaling up formulations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing project needs.
  • Open-minded, solution-focused, and highly creative approach to formulation challenges.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a flexible, innovative mindset.
